Pasionaria, also known as the passion flower, was chosen for my kennel name as it reflected my love and personal passion for the beauty of poodle breed, and specifically the toy variety.
My love for poodles began when I was very young. My sister had severe allergies to dogs but not to poodles. I was always begging my parents for a dog so when we jumped in the car to go "look" at a brown miniature poodle puppy, I knew that was the puppy for me. That was it - I was hooked. I went on to show this girl in junior showmanship and eventually obedience. Since those many years ago, it was my goal to breed and show quality poodles, the only question was when. After my children were raised and off to college, the time was right. I was able to pursue this passion beginning in 2010. Since that time, I have bred or owned 8 champions. Some of them are shown on the following pages.
All of my poodles are tested negative (they do not carry the gene) for the inherited disease of progressive retinal atrophy (abbreviated PRA) which causes blindness at a very young age. It is important for me to breed pups with sound patellas (knees) so that they can play and be active throughout their lifetime. However, the most important characteristic is that they have that outgoing, bubbly and loving poodle personality. As the standard states, they must never meet a stranger.
Puppies are born in my bedroom and stay there until they are a couple of weeks old. I then raise them in another area of the house so they can get used to the comings and goings of people and other dogs. I give my pups a specified protocol of shots, and worming prior to leaving us.
I am always available to talk to future and current owners or answer questions and all of my dogs love visitors.
If you are interested in one of my poodle puppies, please fill out the application so I can get to know you and learn a little bit about you.
